Coral Silver

Coral Silver (they/them) is a doctoral student specializing in eighteenth- and nineteenth-century European sculpture, with research interests in neoclassicism, funerary monuments, and the history of collecting. Before Northwestern, Coral received a B.A. in Art History from Arizona State University and an M.A. in Art History from Syracuse University. Their M.A. thesis, entitled “At Death’s Door: The Pyramid and the Sepulchral Stage in Antonio Canova’s Monument to Maria Christina of Austria (1805),” received the 2025 Syracuse University College of Arts and Sciences Master’s Prize. Coral’s museum experience includes serving as the David W. and Mary S. Benfer Curatorial Research Fellow at The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art and as the Palitz Art Scholar at the Syracuse University Art Museum. They have also worked in Syracuse University’s Special Collections Research Center and Northwestern University’s Charles Deering McCormick Library of Special Collections and University Archives.
