Joitree Alam

Joitree Alam is a doctoral student researching the industrial, military, and governmental uses and aesthetics of photography in 20th-century Southern Africa. She is also interested in how artists have engaged with these photographs in their artistic practices. Before her time at Northwestern, she served as a research postgraduate associate at the Lens Media Lab at the Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage at Yale University. She completed a B.A. in Art History and Applied Statistics from the University of Virginia in 2022.
