Mia Jackson

Mia Jackson is a doctoral student studying medieval art, with a focus on the material culture of the North Atlantic. She is interested in exploring the circulation and production of whalebone carvings and walrus ivories across Northern Europe, and their relationship to broader networks of medieval trade and exchange. She also enjoys working with ArcGIS and other digital humanities tools to open new pathways of art historical scholarship. Prior to her studies at Northwestern, she received BA degrees in Art History and English at Florida State University. Her experience in the cultural heritage industry ranges across Florida, from community-led art initiatives to institutions like The Dalí Museum, the Harn Museum of Art, and the Florida Bureau of Archaeological Research.
